A microchip is a way of permanently identifying your pet. It is quickly inserted under your pet’s skin and is a reliable method to identify and return your companion to you if it has escaped.

Why is it a good idea to microchip my dog?

Dogs sometimes escape and cannot find their way home. An ID tag can fall off, get ripped off, or an ill-intentioned person can simply remove the animal’s collar. It is therefore important to have a permanent identification that leaves no doubt on the dog’s true owner.

How is the microchip implanted and is it safe for my dog?

The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the skin with a needle at the veterinarian’s office. The procedure is completely safe. We recommend microchipping your pet while they are being spayed or neutered to avoid any stress or discomfort associated with the implantation. Otherwise, our team can apply a numbing gel locally before the procedure to reduce the brief discomfort associated with the insertion of the microchip.
