A complete check-up to ensure your pet stays happy and healthy.
Depending on their state of health, urinalysis and fecal tests are an integral part of your pet’s comprehensive examination. A complete urinalysis can detect the presence of a urinary tract infection, kidney or metabolic diseases, and even certain crystals that can lead to bladder stones. Fecal exams enable your veterinarian to determine if your pet has intestinal parasites that can cause gastrointestinal issues.
Dogs will be dogs and there is a high likelihood that your pet will pick up intestinal parasites. An annual fecal exam will help us detect these as soon as possible, thereby preventing many gastrointestinal issues.
You can collect your cat’s stools directly from the litter box. For dogs and cats, make sure you collect an adequate quantity of feces: it takes about 2 g to carry out the analysis. Keep it in the fridge before bringing it to the clinic. Ideally, we ask that the stools be fresh and delivered to us within 24 hours.
We are able to do most urinalyses in-house. When a biopsy is performed at the clinic, the collected samples are sent to an outside lab for analysis.
